Scorpaenodes barrybrowni ist ein sehr kleiner Tiefwasser-Skorpionsfisch, der bisher nur aus einigen, wenigen Teilen der Karibik bekannt ist.
Aufgrund seiner Tiefenverbreitung, eine Wassertiefe, die nur mit Unterwasser-Seeboden erreicht und erforscht werden kann, besteht durchaus die Möglichkeit einer größeren Distribution.
Etymologie: Der Artname" barrybrowni" wurde nach Barry Brown, Curaçao, freischaffender Fotograf (www.coralreefphotos.com) benannt, der in seiner Laufbahn schon zahlreiche neue Arten entdeckt hat.
